Mission Statement

Mission Statement
Our mission is to prevent and treat chemical dependency and abuse through strategies that meet the needs of individuals, families and communities. Coordinating Committee to End Woman Abuse in Thunder Bay & District works collaboratively to establish and support a comprehensive and effective community response to end woman abuse.

What We Believe?
ECCASA believes in the basic self-worth of every individual. We believe that chemical dependency is a debilitating disease that attacks an individual on all levels: physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. This disease has the effect of limiting potential and affects all relationships within that person's total environment. We also believe that the philosophy and traditions of Alcoholics Anonymous and other similar groups are an integral component of the treatment of the chemically dependent individual.Every person must be guaranteed that their wishes will be carried out, assets protected and dignity preserved.

Principals and Value Statements
An Anti-Oppressive, Anti-Racist Framework
We respect diversity and strive to insure we have included everyone's opinion within a value structure that believes everyone is ultimately accountable for the safety of woman and children.

Shared Responsibility
We believe in shared responsibility committed to ending woman abuse. We support the sharing of information and working together to insure the safety of woman and children.

Respect
We respect all members of the Coordinating Committee. We believe in working together in a respectful manner and value each other's opinions.

Our Mission

Since 1981, The ECCASA has been committed to the prevention of child abuse and neglect. Founded by the Mahnah Club of Mesa, a local service group, the Center opened with 7 shelter beds and an annual budget of $60,000. In the past 26 years we have helped to shelter over 11,800 children from all over Maricopa County. With 42 beds and a 4.5 million dollar annual budget, the programs and services we provide in the areas of Emergency Shelter, counseling and prevention have grown in response to the needs of the community.

Grassroots community involvement has always been the cornerstone of the success of the Center. Still today, the ECCASA relies on the generosity of individuals and local corporations to provide the funds necessary to operate. We are grateful for the continued support of the community as we continue to help Arizona’s families prevent child abuse and neglect.
